Radical Acceptance

What it is

Radical Acceptance is a DBT distress tolerance skill for completely accepting reality as it is in the present moment, without judging it, fighting it, or pretending it is different.

Why it works

Pain is unavoidable, but suffering is created when we fight reality (Suffering = Pain × Resistance). Accepting reality doesn't mean approval; it stops the exhausting struggle against facts that cannot be changed:
